DUST RESEARCH CENTERS

History:

The Regional Dust Research Center has been established as the only specialized center for dust events and particulate matters in the country in collaboration with several universities in the country in 2012 after the emergence of dust events, especially in Khuzestan province and Iran's western provinces. The purpose of the establishment of this center is to collect and create specialized databases in the country with respect to dust events and particulate matters, relying on the specialized expertise of the Shahid Chamran University along with the scientific and executive capacity of the country to overcome the problems associated with dust events.

With the collaboration of other partner universities, the Regional Dust Research Center has developed the research priorities of the country's research centers and organized the diverse scientific research studies on dust events. Currently, the center is being run by two research groups under the supervision of the University Research Council:

A: Research Group for the Study and Evaluation of Particulate Matter

• Basic studies on recognizing the physical and chemical characteristics of dust in the country

• Creating databases including books, articles and other resources in the field of particulate matters

• Identifying domestic and foreign institutions, labs and research centers with appropriate measurement equipment for particulate matters with the purpose of permanent monitoring

• Holding workshops, seminars, conferences and scientific meetings on particulate matters

• Identifying and creating financial resources to support graduate and postgraduate students' dissertations
