Iraj Varfinejad was born in one of the villages of Kermanshah province in 1982. In 2000, he was accepted to study history at Urmia University and graduated in 2003. In 2004, he was accepted to the University of Tehran to study history of Islamic Iran, and in 2007, he graduated from that university and was immediately accepted to study for a doctoral program in history at the University of Isfahan. He graduated in 2012 after defending his dissertation entitled "Historical analysis of the issue of succession in the Qajar period". In 2018, he became a member of the faculty of the History Department of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz. His fields of study and research are the history of Qajar and Pahlavi I.
